study shows that web traffic volumes will almost double every two years from 2007 to 2012 driven by video and web 2.0 applications, according to a report by Cisco Systems, and will reach 552 exabytes (billion gigabytes) by 2012.
Soon after 2012, we will have to adopt zettabytes (trillion gigabytes) to express traffic volumes!
Cisco’s Visual Networking Index predicts that visual networking will account for 90 percent of the traffic on the world’s IP networks by 2012, driven by YouTube clips and business use of video conferencing.

yes very powerful stuff here!
Video is the next new wave to hit both private and public IP networks. I have been involved with video conferencing systems (selling and supporting) that just work over the public internet on HD! Yes 1280 x 720 (720p) format over the public internet. It is here today…

Wow…predictions of 90% of the world’s IP traffic being online video of some description!? Makes sense when you think about it, but bizarre to think about too.
Do many businesses use the regular Internet to support video conferencing. I suppose the article mentions IP networks as opposed to the Internet proper. QoS is of course impossible to achieve on a Public network like the Internet.
